1. Licence Grant

Subject to this Software Licence and the edition or entitlement supplied to you, you are granted a personal, limited, non-exclusive licence to install and use Creative Imagination Organiser (CIO) on supported computers.

The software is licensed, not sold. Ownership of CIO and its intellectual property remains with the rights holder.

2. Editions and Entitlements

Different CIO editions may provide different limits or capabilities. The current Products page describes the edition supplied to you.

CIO Free Basic and CIO Advanced can each be activated and used on up to two supported personal computers under one active licence or entitlement. Future editions or licence types may have different terms that will be stated when offered.

3. Supported Platforms

Windows and Ubuntu editions are currently supported. A macOS edition is planned for a future release. A licence does not guarantee that every historical or future operating-system version will remain supported indefinitely.

4. Activation and Device Changes

CIO editions may use signed licence activation and device binding to confirm entitlement and apply the supported device limit. The licence system may process the minimum account, licence and device information needed for that purpose.

Where self-deactivation is available, you should deactivate an old computer before moving the licence to a replacement computer where reasonably possible.

5. What You May Do

• Install and use the edition of CIO that your licence or entitlement permits.
• Create and maintain your own organiser information for lawful personal or permitted business purposes.
• Create reasonable backups of your CIO organiser information and installation materials for your own permitted use.
• Install updates supplied through an authorised CIO update or download route.

6. What You Must Not Do

Unless applicable law expressly permits otherwise, you must not:

• redistribute, resell, rent, sublicense or commercially share copies of CIO outside the rights expressly granted;
• circumvent or defeat licence, activation, device-limit, download or security controls;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble CIO except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly gives you a right that cannot lawfully be excluded;
• remove or falsify copyright, licence or ownership notices; or
• use CIO or its services for unlawful activity or to interfere with other systems.

7. Your Organiser Information

Your private organiser information is stored locally on your computer by default. This licence does not transfer ownership of your organiser content to CIO.

You are responsible for deciding what information you place in CIO and for maintaining appropriate backups. CIO’s website, account and licence systems are designed to operate separately from that private organiser content.

8. Updates

Updates may be supplied to fix defects, improve security, maintain compatibility or add/change features. An update may replace an earlier version and may require a supported operating system or an entitlement check.

You should make an appropriate backup before a significant update, particularly when using beta or preview software.

9. Subscription Expiry and Downgrade

Where a CIO Advanced subscription ends, the Advanced entitlement falls back to CIO Free Basic.

CIO is designed so that organiser information is not intentionally deleted when Advanced ends. Existing information remains available for viewing, export and backup. Free Basic limits apply to creating additional items, and Advanced-only features are no longer available unless the Advanced entitlement is restored.

10. Beta and Preview Versions

Beta or preview builds may be incomplete and may contain defects. They are supplied for evaluation and testing, may change without notice, and should not be relied on as the sole copy of important information.

11. Third-Party Components

CIO may include or rely on third-party or open-source components. Those components may be subject to their own licence notices, which continue to apply to them.

12. Suspension or Termination

Licence or online service access may be suspended immediately where reasonably necessary to protect against fraud, serious abuse, misuse of the licence system or a genuine security risk, subject to applicable consumer rights.

For non-payment or another material breach of this licence, access may be suspended or terminated where justified. Where reasonably possible, you will be told the reason and given an appropriate opportunity to resolve the problem before termination, unless doing so would undermine fraud prevention, security or legal obligations.

Termination of the software licence does not transfer ownership of your local organiser information to CIO.

13. No Removal of Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Software Licence excludes rights or remedies that applicable consumer law says cannot be excluded or limited.

14. Liability and Backups

Nothing in this licence excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful. Subject to mandatory rights, you are responsible for maintaining sensible backups and for losses caused by failing to keep an appropriate backup of important local information.

15. Changes to the Licence

The licence may be updated for future software versions or services where reasonably necessary, for example because the software, services, security requirements or applicable law change. Material changes affecting an existing entitlement will be communicated with reasonable advance notice where appropriate, together with any available cancellation or other practical option. No change will remove mandatory legal rights.
